iPhone SDK: Correcting BREW and J2me

Apple seems to be getting a lot of negative press on its recent SDK announcement. Much of the criticism seems to focus around two issues: That not all functionality of the phone is accessable via the SDK, and that Apple controls the distribution method to the phone. I’ll adress the second point first. Some perspective on the history of apps on cell phones will do a lot to put this in perspective, and see why these decisions were made as tradeoffs, and actually strengthen the position of the iPhone as a leader in custom applications.

Amateur XBox 360

In an unprecedented move for Microsoft, they appear to be encouraging amateur developers to produce games for the XBOX 360 and Windows XP / Vista. While Microsoft has talked about encouraging amateur developers in the past, it has taken little action to do so until now.

Switched to Wordpress

I switched 2robots.com to use Word Press. It was recommended by my friend Patti. It looks like it can do everything that my home-brewed blogging app did, and then some. In fact it’s so friendly, I may even have to start posting more often. Of course, importing all the data kind of sucked…
